多媒体艺术在欧美发展至今已有半个世纪，随着科技的进步以及艺术家的觉醒，亚洲多媒体艺术迅速崛起。由于自身悠久的历史、丰厚的文化底蕴，以及对于自然和中庸的崇尚，亚洲多媒体艺术家没有延续欧美多媒体艺术强烈的感官冲击，而是婉转地将自己的灵感娓娓道来。这种方式体现了东方的含蓄与瑰丽，也更容易为亚洲观众所理解、接受。实际上，在新世纪，东方艺术借助多媒体，正逐渐摆脱对西方的僵硬仿效。艺术家的成熟以及心境的平和，为亚洲多媒体艺术注入了更多鲜活元素。
与此同时，艺术家们也穿越古今并融合了东西方的文化元素。希腊美惠三女神拥有了现代东方女性的窈窕身躯；亚洲风俗画、欧美汽车商标、非洲人体彩绘的完美结合；圣经、佛经、古兰经被犬僧用舌头书写在墙上……亚洲文化的内涵通过西方现代文明的形式表现出来，也从另一个方面体现了亚洲文化的包容性。这不是简单的复制和借用，而是文化大同与和谐的诠释。
韩之演当代空间这次将中韩多媒体艺术家的作品汇聚一堂，为观众带来一场多媒体文化盛宴。置身于展场之中，玄妙的光影变化，将使观众感受亚洲多媒体艺术的无穷魅力。适逢奥运盛事，也借此，将东方的精魂与中韩两国在新时代科技发展的成果共同展示给世人。

The Asian multimedia artists are emerging now with the high-technology being involved so in the contemporary art, which has been the case in the West over decades. Although following the occidental methodology, the contents of their works speak less about the sensual effects by technology but more the core spirit of their own traditions. Nature, Tao, and Mid-way of Confucius often found their modern and even better expressions in the Asian contemporary media art and therefore can be well received by the local audiences of similar cultural backgrounds.
“Border of Virtuality” by the Chinese and Korean media artists reveals a mix of the Occidental and the Oriental cultures. The Greek three graces have beautiful figures of Asian woman; the Asian Ukiyoe combines with the European car marks and the African body painting; Bible, Buddhist Sutra, Koran are written by the tongue of the Canine Monk. The Asian culture took the modern forms from the West to show a tolerance, which is not simply reproduction and appropriation but Taoist ideal of harmony on earth.
HAN JI YUN Contemporary Space with this exhibition will offer a glimpse about the development of the contemporary multimedia art in China and Korea to inspire and increase a trans-cultural communication in the contemporary art.
