PREFACE

 

The cat is a beautiful illustrated and inspiring story of the love of a mother for her child and the ferocious love of that child for his mother. The author and illustrator, Bu Hua, is one of China’s young talents and her philosophy of the importance of love and responsibility come shining through in this beautiful book.

 

I first saw the story in film form and was deeply moved by the tenderness and strength of each of these characters’ love and for one another. Now in book form, I feel the story is just as powerful and am also impressed by how beautiful these emotions translate to the non moving image.

 

My hope is that the children who read and love this beautiful book transfer its message of love and responsibility for one another, to their loving parents and all whom they meet in each of their lifetimes. I feel “The Cat” can truly have a positive effect on the children of China to live the message in this book and help make China and the world a better place for all of us.

我希望，通过阅读并欣赏这部美丽的作品，人们能学会爱与责任，并将这种信息传递给他人、给他们亲爱的爸爸妈妈、给他们生命中遇到的每一个人。我相信，《猫》能真正给中国孩子带来积极的影响，并使中国，乃至全世界变得更加美好。
